A river authority was concerned about the safe operation of its 'Z'
profile Sluice-Gates. If a gate handle slipped from the operator under
load, it could rotate backwards suddenly and cause serious injury.
Sprite
Manufacturing solved the problem by producing a spoked wheel with 'Lead-outs'
on shaped spokes. Now if the operator lost grip on the wheel, the design
would guide the hand down, out and away from danger.
Result:
The bespoke design greatly reduces the potential injury to the
operator without compromising on the efficiency of operation.
